New Energy Trust of Oregon Partnership Funding for Weatherization & Energy Solutions
West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that we have joined Energy Trust of Oregon’s (ETO) Community Partner Funding program to deliver no-cost weatherization and energy efficiency solutions to households in our service area. Through this partnership, West Tuality Habitat will provide critical repairs to homeowners who are low-income and/or have a military veteran, senior or a person with disabilities in the household.
Services offered through the partnership include the purchase and installation of high efficiency electric HVACs, electric mini splits, electric water heaters and insulation. The program has already helped hundreds of homeowners throughout our service area in Western Washington County, Oregon. For example:
When Margaret's water heater failed unexpectedly last November, the cost of replacement was simply out of reach on her fixed senior income. Unsure where to turn, she contacted West Tuality Habitat. Through our ETO partnership, we assessed Margaret's situation, determined her eligibility and replaced her water heater at no cost — providing her with a new energy-efficient unit. Margaret now has reliable access to hot water and a lower monthly energy bill.
Joan, a disabled veteran living on a fixed income, faced a similar crisis when her aging HVAC system failed at the start of last summer. Unable to afford a replacement, Joan reached out to West Tuality Habitat. Following an eligibility assessment, Joan qualified for a high-efficiency heat pump through our ETO partnership — an upgrade that not only restored heating and cooling to her home, but will significantly reduce her long-term energy consumption. Joan's home is now reliably climate-controlled, even during Oregon's increasingly intense summer heat events.
ETO’s Community Partner Funding (CPF) program aims to help historically underserved populations lower their energy costs, improve comfort and resilience and access energy opportunities. ETO is a nonprofit organization funded by a small percentage of utility bills paid by customers of Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas, and Avista. These funds are reinvested on customers' behalf to support energy efficiency, renewable energy and grid-connected technology programs across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
