At long last, we’re inviting NEW volunteers to join us at our latest West Tuality Habitat for Humanity construction site, and in a very special way: we’re hosting a Women Build event on Saturday, October 4, starting at 9 am sharp!
Each Habitat for Humanity Women Build event is meant for those who might feel some hesitation about Habitat construction volunteering and also want to be more comfortable using basic construction and repair tools. The event’s goal is to empower all participants, women and men, to learn more about basic home repair, to show them what working on a Habitat home can be like, and introduce them to the programs and purpose of Habitat for Humanity. While the Women Build event is focused on improving the inclusion of women in the work of building homes, the event does not exclude volunteers of any gender or gender identity.
Be a part of the FIRST group of NEW volunteers working at our largest building project, Countryman Estates, in Forest Grove, Oregon! If you have never volunteered with us before, this is a great opportunity to start, and no experience is needed! If you have volunteered with us once upon a time and are looking to return, we can’t wait to welcome you back!
The Women Build event will feature clinics to help you understand how to safely use various construction tools, and participants will help build a wall or a floor of one of the homes. We want participants to feel empowered, to grow confident in their construction skills, and to want to come back again and again to help us complete these homes, which will eventually house eight families. Some family members who will live in these homes will join us in the day’s construction activities.
Countryman estates is named in honor of Bruce Countryman, who has been the Habitat affiliate’s volunteer construction manager for six of his 14 years volunteering with the organization.
There is a $30 registration fee for the Women Build event for each participant, which includes lunch, a t-shirt and all project supplies. There will also be a chance to win new tools and other prizes! Some scholarships are available; email us volunteer@westtualityhabitat.org or call us at 503-359-8459 if you would like to participate and a scholarship would help make that possible.
Payment is required at registration and the deadline for registration is October 1 at noon.
There is no charge to volunteer with West Tuality Habitat on regular volunteer days! And please note that women are ALWAYS welcomed to ANY Habitat construction or home repair project - you do not have to ever wait to be involved with West Tuality Habitat for Humanity! Men are also welcomed to participate in the Women Build event, or any Habitat construction or repair projects. If you are interested in volunteering with us but NOT for this particular event, please complete our volunteering form. If you have volunteered with us in the past and want to again, but you have not volunteered with us this year, we need you to complete this volunteering form.
The Women Build event is the latest in West Tuality Habitat’s ongoing “Habitat University” events, to train more people to regularly volunteer with us in our construction projects, and with additional financial support, we could host more than one Women Build event in 2026 (you can donate to this and other Habitat projects here).
The 2024 Women Build Event drew 25 participants.
West Tuality Habitat also has neighborhood revitilzation projects and activities in our ReStore that volunteers can support. We sometimes even have online volunteering opportunities! Check out our diversity of volunteering roles here. Contact us at if your group would like to arrange its own group volunteering event with us: email us volunteer@westtualityhabitat.org or call us at 503-359-8459.
The registration fee pays only part of the costs associated with Women Build. We rely on financial sponsors to cover the many costs associated with this event.

West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and was formed in 1991. In addition to the affordable housing program, West Tuality Habitat also has a critical home repair program for low-income seniors, military veterans, and people with disabilities, allowing them to remain in their homes and age in place. West Tuality Habitat also operates a ReStore in Forest Grove, selling gently-used, donated furniture, appliances, home furnishings and leftover building supplies. These sales help fund its Habitat activities in the area and around the world.
