Come volunteer with us - with or without a hammer!

Help build a house (no construction experience needed!), take photos with your smart phone or dedicated camera at one of our volunteer gatherings or special events, help setup or clean up after one of our special events, take photos in our ReStore, help customers with donations or purchases in the ReStore, be a volunteer cashier and more! West Tuality Habitat is ready to involve you - and your group, if you have one! - in a variety of volunteering roles! You can see some of our volunteers in action in photos at the bottom of this article.

Construction has begun at our latest build site in Forest Grove, and we welcome you to volunteer just once or on an ongoing basis! Our volunteers and staff are at the build site every weekday morning and every Saturday morning, rain or shine, and we want you there! Never held a hammer? No problem - we will give you tasks you can do no matter your skill level. Working on our new builds can include framing, siding, painting, flooring, fencing, trim work, landscaping, drainage, yard work and finish work. You could also come just to take photos for us! Come just once and see how you like it - even just once will help you get an idea of the work of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity. It’s likely you will work right alongside our future homeowners, who must complete a few hundred hours helping to build their homes and those of their neighbors. Once finished, Countryman Estates will consist of eight homes supported by West Tuality Habitat.

Countryman estates is named in honor of Bruce Countryman, who was our Habitat affiliate’s volunteer construction manager for six of his many years volunteering with us. Don’t be surprised if, when you volunteer, you’re working right alongside Bruce himself!

Prefer something indoors? We need volunteers to take photos with their own smart phones or dedicated cameras at other volunteer gatherings, as well as special events like our April Gala. You can volunteer to help setup or clean up after one of our special events. You can volunteer to take photos in our ReStore - we need volunteers to take photos of items we can feature on social media. You could volunteer just one day to help customers with unloading ReStore donations or loading purchases - and decide you love it so much, come back again! You could even volunteer to be a cashier or merchandise organizer on an going basis.

Complete this form to express your volunteering interest! We welcome groups as volunteers - religious groups, civic groups, employees of the same company or office, students (18 and over) and more.

Becoming a Habitat volunteer comes with great rewards and responsibilities. Volunteers are representatives of Habitat for Humanity and our mission. In addition to complying with all laws, regulations and Habitat for Humanity policies, all volunteers are expected to follow Habitat’s Code of Conduct. Details of our commitment to safeguarding can be found in our safeguarding policy, or you can view our safeguarding orientation video in English or with Spanish subtitles to learn more about what safeguarding is, how to recognize safeguarding violations and how to report them.

West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a certifying organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award. That means that, if you volunteer with West Tuality Habitat and meet the eligibility requirements for a Presidential Service Award via the hours you volunteer with just us or in combination with another organization that is a certifying organization, you can receive the award. Read more about how you can qualify for the award through volunteering with West Tuality Habitat.

West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and was formed in 1991. In addition to the affordable housing program, West Tuality Habitat also has a critical home repair program for low-income seniors, military veterans, and people with disabilities, allowing them to remain in their homes and age in place. West Tuality Habitat also operates a ReStore in Forest Grove, selling gently-used, donated furniture, appliances, home furnishings and leftover building supplies.
